Arizona Camping and Hiking

There is nothing more beautiful and good for the soul than a hike somewhere in Arizona. Depending on where you go, you can experience all four season, sometimes even on a single day. For me however, i’s all about the heat. I love to hike when i is as hot as the sun can possibly make it. That’s probably why I’m an excellent Arizona Hiker.

I’ve designed this site to help you decide your next trip, share your adventures and help new hikers understand the basics of hiking. I love to look and pictures from both my own camera and those of others so if you want to show off your pictures, send them in and they will probably be posted.

There is always one absolute necessary when hiking in Arizona.  No matter what, always make sure you have plenty of water. I always have a minimum of 1-gallon per day and highly recommend that you do the same.  I’ve seen some people start an Arizona hike with absolutely no water and I just don’t get it.  At times, people even start off their hike with a cup of coffee. his is probably the worst thing to drink before a hike in the heat. Caffeine dehydrates you and being dehydrated in the desert can only mean bad things.  You should start pounding down water even before you hit the trails. Drink plenty of water the night before and the morning before you go out in the sun. You won’t be disappointed.

Next, please remember that 110 degree weather is not something to take lightly. Always wear something to protect you from the shade.  Long pants are always a great idea and wearing a hat is wonderful. You want to make sure you are protecting your head from the sun. Sunglasses are another must when out in the Arizona sun and don’t forget your sunscreen. Don’t act cool and think you are too good for sunscreen. Take a moment to put some on, and don’t be cheap, really cover yourself in it.  Following these basic tips will really help you enjoy the day better!

Now that you have the basic out of the way.  Let’s talk about where to hike!  If you love the heat and you really want to see some cool stuff, Tucson, Arizona has some of the best hiking in the World.  The wildlife is amazing and the views are second to none.  If you are hiking in Arizona, make sure you get the opportunity to go to Tucson!
